Mixed Chicks is now at Target

So today I went to Tarje and guess what they had in stock?! Mixed Chicks! I've been itching to try a new product but I was trying to wait on my CurlKit and CurlBox (yes I got both of them). In the mean time I will be trying out the Mixed Chicks deep conditioner and leave-in conditioner on my next wash which is next weekend. I've read good things about both of them so I will be reviewing both products.

Mixed Chicks deep conditioner - $13.99 ----online price $10.99 http://www.mixedchicks.net/
Mixed Chicks leave-in-conditioner- $19.99-----online price $16.99 http://www.mixedchicks.net/

Yeah I had a WTF moment too but think about shipping :)

Banana Smoothie Deep Conditioner

Inspired from the girls over at Around The Way Curls I decided to try the deep conditioner for my hair.
Here's a link to the original recipe I followed http://www.acurlsbf.com/2011/09/im-going-bananas-do-it-yourself.html

I may need a richer deep conditioner but this one was definitely worth the 5 minutes it took to make. I plan on trying more of their hair recipes especially the one with Rosemary. http://www.acurlsbf.com/2011/08/pre-poo-treatment-and-recipe.html

Weapons of choice for shampooing and detangling! Giovanni Tea Tree Triple Threat and Herbal Essences Hydralicious Conditioner to detangle. It has great slip and makes combing through my hair a breeze.
Sectioned and ready to detangle

Before shampooing
After shampooing
All done!
Ingredients: 2 small bananas or 1/2 in a large one
2 tablespoons honey
1 tablespoons Jojoba oil
1/4 cup WARM water (I forgot to warm mine)
Results should look like a yummy smoothie

Add all ingredients to blender and blend until super fine so banana lumps don't remain in your hair.

Great consitency
Made about 1 cup, I had left overs

Rinse out conditioner and add deep conditioner. Cover with shower cap and leave for up to an hour. I actually put on my heating cap and cooked with it on my head for about an hour and a half.
After rinsing out the mix

My hair was soft!!!!
Added my leave in conditioner and some shea moisture smoothie mix and left my hair alone for a while.

Added a little bit of oil to my hands when I took these down.
Two strand twist then bantu knots using miss jessies curly pudding in the purple tub. This is my second go around with it and it actually didn't leave my hair sticky like the first time. I think I used too much then.

Welcome

As I sit at home on this chilly Wednesday, I decided to create Catch My Curls to simplify the natural hair journey, process, and styles for the newbies who are intimidated by the very talented women who style their natural hair themselves. I was driven to do this because I was and still am working on trying new protective styles for my hair. I constantly visit different website such as www.curlynikki.com and several youtube channels to find direction. Join me on my journey to take it back to basic with natural hair. I am also a foodie and health fanatic so look out for posts along those lines.
